Down in Flames ...

Tournament Organization:
Down In Flames is GMT's series of card games which simulate the air combat and campaigns of World War II. This fast-paced dogfighting game features a different format from previous years. Instead of choosing planes, in each round, players will play both sides of a six-turn dogfight using designated aircraft from the DiF series. Rise of the Luftwaffe, 8th Air Force, and Corsairs & Hellcats are not required. If aircraft are used from these other series, they will be provided by GM.

The event format is Modified Double Elimination, with everyone getting to play 3-4 matches in the Preliminary Round. Each match will be two dogfights. The top eight will advance to Single Elimination play in the Semi-Finals.

Rules in Play:
All basic rules from Zero! will be in play, incorporating the latest errata from the GMT web site. Per standard event rules, players are expected to bring copies of Zero! to be guaranteed a seat in the tournament.

Scoring:
Per the Basic Rules, damaged aircraft at the end of a six-turn dogfight are worth two victory points. Aircraft destroyed are worth five victory points. Standard dogfight scoring applies: points are awarded for opposing aircraft that a player damaged and shot down, and deducted for aircraft belonging to the player which were damaged or shot down. The player with the highest
point total for both dogfights wins. If both players have the same total score, the player who had the best score while playing the side worth fewer Fighter points wins. If still tied, continue the second dogfight additional turns as needed until one player scores more points in a turn than the other. A scorecard will be provided to simplify the tracking of points.

The winner will receive merchandise credits from GMT.

Check Mike Nagel's Down In Flames web-site (http://mywebpages.comcast.net/mpnagel/dif/) as WBC gets closer to learn which aircraft will be used.

Chris Janiec will serve as Assistant GM.
