The first BoD election in six years to field six or more nominees was also one of the closest. It marked the first time an incumbent was unseated—proving it can be done. 262 members voted—a new record high—representing nearly 29% of the membership at that point in time. 11 non-member and several duplicate votes were disallowed but would not have changed the outcome had they been counted. |

The three incumbents were reelected in postal/e-mail election held during the three months before WBC. 140 members cast valid ballots in the election, which was approximately 14% of the membership at the time, which just met the minimum required for an official election. We ask membership to offer more support to our organization by registering their votes in the election each year. Results of the election were announced at the BPA annual meeting on July 31. The board held one "live" meeting during WBC. Other business takes place via e-mail.

Two of the three incumbents chose not to run again. That meant the race was hotly contested and the results were close, with sole incumbent Bruce Reiff gleaning the most votes, followed by Tom McCorry and Josh Githens. The total number of members voting was 225, which was approximately 23% of the membership at the time. Results of the election were announced at the BPA annual meeting on Aug. 3. The board held one "live" meeting during WBC 2010. Other business takes place via e-mail. |

Two
incumbents and last year's

in the combined postal/e-mail
vote that took place in
the three months preceding

116 members voted by July
15, which represented 16% of the membership at that time.

Incumbency
proved difficult to top in our sixth
election, with all three returning
Board members winning re-election
handily in the combined postal/e-mail
vote that took place in
the three months preceding
WBC. This timely result enabled the Board to continue to
hold “live” meetings—conducting
two during WBC 2005. A referendum
to amend the By-Laws to eliminate
term limits was passed 314-112. |

The
BPA’s sixth annual Board election was its second
held over a protracted
three-month period with
votes submitted solely
by email or post and not cast “live” at
the WBC. Incumbent Bruce
Reiff won re-election
and was joined by two
first time members as
the Board welcomed Treasurer
Bruno Passacantando and
GCOM president and founder Keith Levy to the table. The
newly constituted Board met twice in the early morning
hours of WBC to conduct business and appointed Kaarin Englemann
to fill the vacated seat of the resigning Stuart Tucker. |

The
BPA’s fifth Board election was its first held over
a protracted three-month period with votes submitted solely
by email or post and not cast “live” at the WBC.
246 members participated, representing nearly a third of
the eligible voters at the time—and representing a
considerable increase in participation over the prior year’s
election. This timely result enabled the Board to hold its
first hourly “live” meeting ever—something
they enjoyed so much they
held four of them at the
2003 WBC. Both incumbents
easily won re-election for
another three-year term, but the third seat of retiring Alan
Applebaum was closely contested by five strong candidates. |

The
BPA elected its third class
of non-appointed Board Members to serve a three-year term
by returning incumbent Kathy Stroh. To replace the retiring
Andy Maly and Glenn Petrosky, the memberhip elected Bruce
Reiff and John Pack, longtime GMs. The following results
are based on the votes of 292 members…a
turnout of approximately
28% of the eligible voters. While BPA elections weight
votes based on membership level, it is worth noting that
the order of finish listed below would not have been altered
had each vote counted equally. |

The
BPA is organized as a
Non-Profit Corporation,
with its state of incorporation
being South Carolina.
The BPA came into formal
existence on December
8, 1998 when its Articles
of Incorporation were
accepted for filing by
the South Carolina Secretary
of State. The BPA was
organized by F. Scott
Pfeiffer, an attorney
practicing corporate
law in Greenville, SC,
acting as Incorporator.
His services have been
provided pro bono publico.
As Incorporator, he elected
nine initial Directors,
with terms of office
through the year indicated
below. Since then, each
class of three Directors
is elected by vote of
the membership annually.
