Harken oh heroes to the days of
yore
On
Thursday morning, 5 Aug 04, 15 orc-bashers assembled in the Polo
Room to vie for the Throne of Marnon. The Tourney Director organized
three 5-player games with the three winners and the three runner-ups
advancing to the final round.
On Board 1, Lord Randy Sands defeated Lady Verity Hitchings
and Lords Ken Samuel, Matt Mason and Paul Bolduc in Turn 7. Lady
V. Hitchings advanced as 2nd place finisher and was Dragonfood
with 15 losses. Lord Mason was Orcbait with 16 losses. Lord Bolduc
drew the Blank Card on Turn 3 causing the rest of that turn and
the next turn to be without player attack campaigns (SNOW!?);
the orcs and dragon were not so restricted. He was eliminated
on Turn 4 after his orc-ravaged Army failed to capture his 2nd
treasure (mutual elimination: bad planning and/or bad dice).
On Board 2, Lady Alice Trumblee defeated Lords Jonathan Tivel
and Stuart Pierce and Ladies Lisa Goldstein and Katherine Hitchings
in Turn 6. Lady K. Hitchings advanced as 2nd place finisher and
was Dragonfood with six losses. Lady Trumblee was Orcbait with
13 losses.
On Board 3, Lady Erika Kirchner defeated King Lenoir, Lords
Cliff Ackman, Victor Hogen, and Bill Powers on Turn 3. Lord Ackman
advanced as 2nd place finisher and was Orcbait with 10 losses.
Ex-King Lenoir was Dragonfood with three losses.
In the Final, the blank card option wasn't used. Lord Sands
did not participate and so was awarded 6th place. The Final was
thus a 5-player game. Lady Kirchner emerged victorious on Turn
8, becoming the first AvalonCon/WBC Queen Regnat of Marnon; she
was also Dragonfood with 11 eaten including her hero. Lady V.
Hitchings placed second and was Orcbait with 16 losses including
her Sorcerer. Lady Trumblee was third, Lord Ackman, fourth and
Lady K. Hitchings fifth.
Consolation Round:
Lord Bolduc (32 orcs slain), eked out a win against Lord Mason
(29 orcs) and Lady Vanity Hitchings (27 orcs) as King's Orcslayer
in the consolation game. Two orcs remained on the board.
So, Queen Kirchner got the WBC wood, the DRAGONFOOD plaque
and the crown, Lady Verity Hitchings got the ORCBAIT plaque,
and Lord Bolduc was awarded the KING'S ORCSLAYER plaque.
