Harken oh heroes to the days of
yore
We had 18 entrants this year. We again offered "Orcbait"
and "Dragonfood" certificates to the players in each
game most beset by the orcs and dragon respectively. An "Orcbait"
and a "Dragonfood" plaque were awarded to the player
most beset in the overall tourney. The "Blank Card"
option was available to the players.

Tourney Report:
All too early on Thursday morning, 31 Jul 03, 18 orc-bashers
assembled to vie for the Throne of Marnon. The Tourney Director,
Lord Bolduc, organized six three-player games so that the orc-bashing
and treasure seeking could begin. The six winners all advanced
to the final round.
On Board 1, Lord Paul Bolduc defeated Lady Angela Collinson
and Lord Richard Jones at the second player of Turn 11. Lady
Angela Collinson was both Dragonfood with 15 losses and Orcbait
with 27 losses .
On Board 2, Lady Jennifer Duke defeated Lord Michael Saunders
and ex-King Bill Navolis as the first player in Turn 5. Lady
Duke was both Dragonfood with five losses and Orcbait with 15
losses.
On Board 3, Lord Don Tatum defeated Lords Tim Swartz and Paul
Saunders on Turn 8. An incomplete record had Lord Tatum Orcbait
with 10 losses and Lords Swartz and Saunders shared Dragonfood
with two losses each.
On Board 4, Lord Bill Lenoir defeated ex-King Bob Runnicles
and Lady Ashley Collinson as the last player on Turn 4. Lady
Ashley was Dragonfood with three losses and all tied for Orcbait
with six losses.
On Board 5, Lady Katherine Hitchings defeated Lords William
Duke and Richard Beyma as the first player of Turn 4. Lord Beyma
was both Dragonfood with six losses and Orcbait with eight losses.
On Board 6, Lord Jonathan Tivel defeated Ladies Rolinda Collinson
and Verity Hitchings as the first player of Turn 4. Lady R Collinson
was Dragonfood with seven losses (including her Hero!) and Lady
V Hitchings was Orcbait with 12 losses.
In the Final, the blank card option wasn't used. Twas Lord
Tivel that claimed the first Treasure, his Crown, as the third
player of Turn 1. Lord Lenoir scored next, recovering his Chest,
as the fifth player of Turn 2. Three Rings were claimed in Turn
3, Lady Hitching's, Lady Duke's, and Lord Tivel's. On Turn 4
Lord Tatum recovered his Chest and Lord Bolduc his Crown. Turn
5 saw
Lord Tatum move Lady Duke's last treasure, and then used his
boat privilege to attack from Haven to Melting Sands to capture
his second treasure, Lord Bolduc use an extra attack campaign
to recover his second treasure, and Lord Lenoir settled the matter
by using two extra attack campaigns to capture his third treasure.
Thus Lord Lenoir became King of Marnon, but it was a close thing.
Had Lady Duke moved first in Turn 5, the Throne would've been
hers. The others scuffled for a few more turns, but then the
royal pecking order was established with Lord Tatum second, Lord
Tivel third, Lady K Hitchings fourth, Lord Bolduc fifth, and
Lady Duke sixth. Lord Tivel was Dragonfood with five losses and
Lord Lenoir was Orcbait with nine losses.
Consolation Round:
Lord Michael Saunders (30 orcs slain), eked out a win against
Lords Jones (29 orcs) and Navolis (23 orcs) as King's Orcslayer
in the consolation game. Eight orcs were stillborn.
So, King Lenoir got the WBC wood and the crown, Lady Angela
Collinson got both the DRAGONFOOD and ORCBAIT plaques, and Lord
Michael Saunders was awarded the King's ORCSLAYER plaque.
But plans are afoot to constitutionally unseat King Lenoir
early in August 2004....
Be there. Marnon needs you.
