Welcome to Ancient Egypt, land of the pyramids.

Tournament Format

Players compete to build the largest pyramids, then suffer the flooding of the Nile and rebuild.

Play will consist of two preliminary heats. All are welcome to play in either or both. After both heats, players will be ranked according to the criteria below. Game winners will advance, using alternates only if necessary to fill the field to 16, 20 or 25. In the unlikely event that we have more than 25 game winners, they will advance to the semi-finals in order of the same criteria.

a) Most wins

b) Sorting score based on the following (sum of all heats played)

- 100 points for a 1st place finish

- 20 points for a 2nd place finish

- 5 points for a 3rd place finish (5-player games only)

- plus the ratio of your score to the highest opponents' score

c) Random die roll

If less than 25 winners appear for the semis, they will be evenly spread amongst as many games as it takes with the extra players seated randomly. The field will be contracted to 20 or 16 as necessary, with alternates being used to fill the next largest field. All winners in the semis will advance to a 5-player Final (4-player from a field of 16).

Every attempt will be made to play 5-player games at the Heats. All games with less than five participants will have the same provinces removed from play (Abydos, Amarna and Kharga), and the Power Card bonus card will be reduced from a seven-card requirement to a six-card requirement.

Rule Clarifications:

1) Items in both Phase 3 and Phase 5 should always be performed in the same order: Cards, Farmers, Bricks.

2) When drawing power cards during the purchasing phase (Phase 3) or as a reward during the sacrifice (Phase 5), each player must state in advance how many cards he or she will draw. Players are allowed to look at their cards before deciding how many farmers and/or bricks to purchase/receive.

The game cannot be taught during the event. You must attend the scheduled Demo session or learn the game on your own.
