WBC Auction Store 2023 Last updated June 12, 2023

SUBMISSIONS FOR THE WBC 2023 AUCTION STORE ARE NOW OPEN.

What is an Auction Store?

An Auction Store is like a flea market except instead of each person selling their own stuff, the WBC auction staff runs the entire shebang so you can pay attention to the Auction or play games. It is an attempt to 1) satisfy those who would like a flea market instead of an auction, 2) increase the number of items WBC can sell in the same time frame currently used, and 3) allow the sales of the lower value items in a way that is more cost effective without cluttering up the Auction. Also, it allows everyone a chance to accomplish more “shopping” in less time, since you can peruse the items in the Store while the Auction is ongoing, fully within earshot and bidding range.

When & Where?
The Auction Store will be held in the Grand Ballroom next to the auction and will be open from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

How Does it Work?
The Seller may set three different prices based on the time the item sells. The Buyer simply picks up the item and takes it to the cashier for payment of the amount listed during the given timeframe of the purchase. Store hours are from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 and the prices will change (at seller’s discretion) at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.

Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware):
The Auction Staff assumes no responsibility for the condition of the game or the accuracy of the seller’s description on the auction store item sheets. They are not responsible for mistakes or missing components. Buyers are not allowed to open the games in the auction store. All sales are final!

Cash only:
In God we trust, all others pay cash. When you want to purchase an item, you must immediately come forward to the cashier and make your purchase. We are not set up for checks, credit cards, or Paypal. Buyers who fail to complete their purchases promptly in the view of the cashier will forfeit their right to enter the auction store.

Item Description:
Lots offered for sale will be defined by the seller as being in one of the following physical condition categories. You should familiarize yourself with these terms so as to better judge the condition of what is being offered.

  • SHRINK WRAPPED - Still in the original shrink wrap
  • UNPUNCHED - Item is unpunched, unplayed and complete
  • PUNCHED - COMPLETE - Item is punched and seller verifies completeness
  • PUNCHED - UNKNOWN - Item is punched but seller has not verified completeness
  • PUNCHED - MISSING - Item is punched and missing parts (declare missing parts)
  • OTHER such as Item has a declared flaw such as water damage, torn box
A brief description of the item describing any extra bonus features such as sorting trays, variant pieces, etc. should be provided for any items which include them.

Who can Sell and what can be Sold?
Selling is limited to those with a current WBC badge. Due to the specialized nature of WBC as a game convention, only games and accessories pertaining to them can be sold.

Lot Registration process:
Sellers are required to submit their auction store lots to be sold to the auction staff prior to WBC. All auction store lots must be registered after the registration period opens and no later than June 15, 2023, at midnight eastern time or when maximum number of items are reached, whichever comes first. Due to space limitations, lots will be restricted to the first 1,500 submissions. Submissions of less than 10 games will be rejected. All submissions must include a minimum of 10 games and are limited to a maximum of 50.

To submit items for the auction store, sellers must complete the Auction Store Registration Form (which will be available after registration opens) and email the form to the Convention Director. Please be sure to include the words “WBC Auction Store” in the subject line. The form requires you to provide the name of the Game, the game publisher, and the price for each game at each time each of the three listed times. Please do not add lines to the form. An additional tab are provided for more than 30 items. Do not send the Auction Store Item Sheets when submitting your items for inclusion in the Auction Store. No Item shall be allowed in the store with a price of more than $30.

A non-refundable fee of $0.25 per lot submitted is required and will be deducted from the seller’s proceeds.

Those who register auction store lots will receive an email confirming their submission and providing them with auction store lot numbers within 48 hours.

***IMPORTANT*** It is necessary to attach the completed the Auction Store Item Sheet (now part of the improved Auction Registration form courtesy of Marty Sample), to your games with painter’s tape, and bring the games during the check-in time for the auction store. The check-in time for auction store items will be between the hours of 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Monday, July 25, 2023 in the Grand Ballroom. Auction Store Items will not be accepted at any other time.

Unsold items:
The BPA will exercise reasonable care in safeguarding your items, but we assume no responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged goods. Sellers are responsible for collecting unsold items promptly. Sellers need to claim their unsold items between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 in the Grand Ballroom. Sellers not retrieving their unsold items at this time will be charged an additional fee of $1.00 which will be deducted from their proceeds. After that, the items will be at the Registration Desk. Items unclaimed by 12:00 pm on Sunday, July 30, 2023 become the property of the BPA.

The number of unsold items remains high, therefore, a handling fee for unsold items of $1.00 for each item not sold will be deducted from auction store proceeds to covering staff handling of unsold items.

Payouts:
Sellers will receive the selling price minus registration fee, handling fee, and unsold item fees. The Handling Fees are as follows:
