King of Tokyo is a dice game designed by Richard Garfield where players take on the role of monsters attacking Tokyo. Each monster has 10 points of life and starts the game equal in strength to all other monsters. As the game progresses, monsters can accumulate energy to give them powers that provide them additional fame, save them from harm, or deal more harm to their fellow monsters. The winner is the first to get to 20 fame points by getting into and holding Tokyo, or by eliminating all other monsters. In the end, there can be only one King of Tokyo.

Format:
This will be played as a continuous single elimination event. We will be using only the basic game (expansion monsters are allowed, but no cards or variant rules). The winner of each game will advance to the next round.

Games will be 4-, 5- or 6-player games (unless absolutely impossible). Tables will be assigned randomly (with standard adjustments to exclude teammates/family members/etc.) Rounds will continue until there are six or fewer players to compete in a final round (with a goal of a 4- or 5-player Final).

In the event of a tie, tiebreakers will be as follows:
1 Everyone still alive at the end outranks everyone who is dead. People who die later outrank people who die earlier.
2 For those who die at the same time (or do not die), rank by number of stars.
3 For those who die at the same time (or do not die) with the same number of stars, rank by hearts. For those that died at the same time, this includes negative hearts: If I do 3 damage to two players, one who has one heart left and one who has three hearts left, the one with three hearts left ranks higher (assuming equal stars), since they are ahead 0 to -2.
4 If still tied, use total cost of all cards owned.
5 If still tied, the next tiebreaker is the number of energy cubes.
6 If still tied, roll six dice. Most claws wins.

Rules: We will be using the base set rules, which include the advanced rules for Tokyo Bay (5-6 player games).

Time limits: Rounds will be limited to 45 minutes. Time warnings will be given with 15, 10, and 5 minutes remaining. If no outright winner is established when time is called, the player with the most Stars is the winner (ties will follow the tiebreaker rules above). Please don't stall or do anything like that (this is just a game). Any deliberate stalling will result in disqualification.
