The Mighty Eighth U.S. Army Air Force will take to the skies over German-occupied Europe again at WBC 2017. This year will mark our 26th year, which will also be our 25th SILVER Anniversary. We drew record attendance to the B17 event at Seven Springs in 2016, so we are looking forward to another large turnout with a lot of great fun, cheery camaraderie and gloom, despair and agony.

We will fly three more historical-based missions, to battle the Luftwaffe and attack key wartime industries. Our chronological timeline has us now moved up to January 1944, and we are nearing Big Week which broke the back of the Luftwaffe in preparation for the D-Day landings in June 1944.

The B-17 event (held on WBC Thursday at 0900) follows the chronological war diary of the USAAF Eighth Air Force. After 25 years of tournament play, we are now focusing on early 1944. The tournament flies three historical missions, and all players are encouraged to play ALL three missions along with their fellow squadron members. The After Action Meeting on Friday night at 2200 hours involves presentation of medals, and acknowledges the many highlights (and lowlights) of the previous day's battles. There are two perpetual trophies awarded as well (best squadron and worst (FUBAR) squadron.

We also feature an optional prize table (see below) where donated items are picked one at a time, from worst finisher to first finisher, ensuring that everyone goes away with some memento from the tournament.

But mostly, as our recent rising attendance figures show, and as our outstanding 2016 record attendance at Seven Springs demonstrates, we have a cadre of committed B-17 players who really enjoy this event and who keep coming back for more fun and carnage. The most important thing that players take home are their memories of great fun and a desire to come back next year. We encourage new players to find a copy of the game online (eBay, etc.), but show up regardless and we will see if we can cover you from our loaner library of stocked B-17 games.

Additional Prizes - We present medals for great heroic achievements, as well as for notable disastrous results. During the After Action Meeting (a raucous Friday night affair), we run an optional prize table whereby each player donates a B17/WW2-related item (Book, video, wargame, models, etc.) to the prize table. Each participant gets to draw a prize based on their order of finish (from worst to first).

Do NOT forget the PRIZE TABLE this year! More participation is encouraged!

We also have two spectacular trophies for best and worst (FUBAR) squadrons. Many thanks to Michael Coombes for building these trophies.

And many, many more. Last year we had a Board of Inquiry to humiliate someone who decided to bomb a country that was off of the targets list. All in good fun
