You may play if you have read the rules, played previously, or participated in a scheduled demonstration. The GM will be available for one hour in Exhibit Annex to teach the game. Be on time. The GM will remain for only 15 minutes if no one is present.

Dominion is the granddaddy of deck building games. Starting with an initial deck consisting of only basic money and victory cards, players acquire new and better cards, expanding their options for future turns and letting them build towards better and better cards. Each game is different from those that came before, with only a small portion of the available Kingdom cards being present in any game. As the game goes on, players need to decide when to switch over to buying victory cards, which will slow you down during the game, but are the only thing that matters at the end.

Anyone interested in playing is encouraged to bring their own copy of the game, as we are often short on these, especially for the opening round. Players have been turned away in the past, and we would prefer to avoid that this year!

Tournament Format:
Dominion will be played over four rounds, each consisting of a pair of back-to-back games. Finishing well in games will give you "Advancement Points" (AP) which will help you qualify for the following round. AP will reset each round, so that everyone in a given round has the same chance to move on to the next one.

As with last year, players participating in the opening round will have the option of playing only with the Base set, or with Base + Expansion. Again, if you want to ensure that you play with the sets you want, please bring your own copy - either of Base, or of Base + Prosperity!

If two players tie in any game, the player with the later starting turn order will be considered to have the higher position. Advancement Points will be awarded based on finishing position.

1st: 8 AP
2nd: 5 AP
3rd: 2 AP
4th: 0 AP

If three-player games are required, the 3rd place position will be skipped, so AP will be awarded as 8-5-0.

Advancement to later rounds is done using the following criteria, considering only the most recent round:

1) Total combined AP from both games
2) Total combined victory points from both games
3) Played with Expansion (for first round only)
4) Brought a copy of the game
5) High die roll

64 players will be advanced to the Quarterfinals, 16 to the Semifinals, and 4 to the Finals. Each advancement is done considering only the results from the most recent round.

Please be aware that it is possible for multiple players to advance from a single table as a result of this system. Players are strongly encouraged to consult the tournament kiosk after each round to see if they are on the list of players advancing, either as a primary or an alternate.
